Uploading photos & supported formats

How to upload single or multiple images, which formats we accept, size limits, and tips for preserving quality and metadata.

Exposera accepts standard image files and provides a simple upload flow for both single and batch uploads. You can upload directly from the Create & Upload screen or use the image picker when inserting images into posts. The picker supports selecting multiple files at once for batch uploads.

How to upload

Use the Create → Upload Photo screen (or the inline image picker) to add files. The page supports drag & drop or clicking to browse. You can select multiple files at once for batch uploads.

  1. When you add files the client validates them and starts background uploads automatically. Progress is shown per file and you can remove or cancel files while uploading.
  2. For each file the app creates a temporary upload entry and returns a secure upload link and upload ID. Use that link to transfer the file.
  3. After a successful transfer the client finalizes the upload by sending metadata (title, caption, tags, visibility, etc.). We then extract EXIF data and generate display-ready image variants for the site.

Note: upload links expire after one hour — if a link expires, start the upload again for that file.

Accepted file types

Common formats we support include JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, and TIFF. HEIC/HEIF files are converted to JPEG automatically during processing. Additionally, common camera RAW formats (for example DNG, CR2, NEF, ARW, RAF, RW2) are supported — note that RAW uploads are a Pro-only feature and are handled differently (they are queued for conversion and may take longer to appear in your gallery).

Size limits & quotas

Regular image files (JPEG, PNG, WebP, etc.) are limited to 70 MB per file. Camera RAW files are allowed up to 500 MB. In addition to per-file limits, uploads are subject to your account storage quota — if an upload would push you past your plan quota it will be rejected.

File names are limited to 255 characters.

Best practices for quality

- Upload the highest-quality original you have (JPEG at full quality, TIFF, or your RAW file if you are a Pro user). The service generates optimized variants (WebP/JPEG) for display, so keeping a high-quality original preserves maximum detail.

- For web delivery, JPEG or PNG are fine. If you need the richest post-processing flexibility, keep RAW or TIFF originals locally and upload RAW only if you need server-side conversion.

Metadata & privacy

When possible we extract EXIF metadata such as camera make/model, lens, exposure, date taken, and GPS. GPS/location data may be processed to provide location labels and may be rounded to protect privacy depending on your visibility settings — remove GPS from the file before upload if you do not want any location data stored or displayed.

You can set title, caption, tags, visibility, and other fields when finalizing the upload.

Troubleshooting & common errors
  • If the upload fails with a size or quota error, check that the file is under the appropriate per-file limit (70 MB for regular images, 500 MB for RAW) and that you have enough storage left on your plan.
  • RAW uploads require a Pro plan; attempting to upload RAW on a non-Pro account will be rejected.
  • If the upload URL expires (you'll see an "Upload URL expired" or similar error), try initiating the upload again and complete the transfer within one hour.
