Photo privacy, sharing & album controls

How visibility, shareable links, album permissions and location privacy work in Exposera.
Visibility options

When you publish a photo or album you choose who can see it. The exact visibility options you'll see in the app are:

  • Public — visible to everyone. Public items can appear in public listings and search results.

  • Unlisted — not shown in public listings, but anyone with the direct link can view the item. Useful for sharing with a limited audience without requiring sign-in.

  • Private — visible only to you (signed-in account required).

  • Circles — visible only to people you add to one or more circles (groups) you manage. You can create and manage circles from your profile and then pick them when you publish or edit content.

Sharing & unlisted links

Use the Share button on a photo or album page to share a link. Where available your device's native share sheet is used; the app falls back to copying the link to your clipboard. Unlisted items are accessible to anyone who has the direct link, but they won't show up in public galleries, feeds, or search results.

Tip: If you want a quick embed or to post an image in chat or an email, copy the share link and paste it where you need it.

Albums & cover photos

Album visibility controls who can see the whole album. When you pick a cover photo, the app only allows covers that are at the same visibility level or more open than the album itself. In plain terms:

  • A public album requires a public cover photo.

  • An unlisted album can use a public or unlisted cover photo.

  • A circles-restricted album accepts photos set to public, unlisted, or circles.

  • A private album can use any photo as a cover.

You can change an album's visibility from the album edit screen — if a selected cover is not compatible with the new visibility the app will prompt you to choose a different cover.

Embedding images and posts

You can embed photos or posts in other websites by using the shareable link or any embed option available in the app. When content is embedded it is presented safely to protect you and your viewers — the viewer will see the photo or a preview but embedded content is isolated from the host page for security.

Location (GPS) privacy

For each photo you can control how location data is shared:

  • Exact — shares precise coordinates (used to show the exact place or city).

  • Approximate (~10km) — rounds the location to a coarse grid (about a 10 km radius) so the general area is visible but not the exact spot.

  • Hidden — no location information is shared.

You can set this when you upload a photo or later from the photo's edit screen. Choosing a coarser privacy level helps protect sensitive locations while still letting viewers know where a photo was taken in broad terms.

How to change settings

- To change a photo's visibility or location privacy, open the photo and use the Edit controls.

- To change an album's visibility or select circles, open the album and choose Edit → Visibility. If you select Circlesyou will be prompted to pick one or more circles (groups) to share with.
